Easy Habit Trackers & Mood Updates

Feeling overwhelmed by life’s daily demands, I started searching for ways to keep track of my energy and emotions. Journaling my feelings in the moment seemed like a good idea at first, but instead of helping, it often left me feeling even more drained. That’s when I knew I needed a better solution—something simple yet effective. What if tracking my mood didn’t rely on writing but instead focused on selecting basic emotions like happy, sad, angry, or tired? This idea of a mood automation system felt like a game-changer, and it might be just what you’re looking for too.

Energy and mood are closely intertwined, and understanding their relationship is essential for effectively maintaining habits, especially when using digital tools. Here's how they connect and why it matters:

The Connection Between Energy and Mood

Energy refers to a mutable force that can move upwards and downwards. It creates a sense of movement and exist in multiple forms. For instance, when you're well-rested and energised, there's a positive energetic shift that happens within us. we're more likely to transmit that energy to others by uplifting and caring for them.

With regards to Mood, it encompasses the state of mind and emotional psyche. the feeling can linger for several hours or even days. Be it both positive and negative, it creates this idea that we don't have control over it. A good example would be one having higher energy levels (capacity) however, one could be a bad mood (cause).

Both energy and mood work like Yin and Yang, a true symbiotic relationship where one cannot function without the other.

Example of a Simple Mood Tracking Database

As simple as this Mood Tracker looks, there seems to be a few things missing. It would seem I need prompts to know what kind of habits I can cultivate so that when I weigh the overall mood for each day, there's a better understanding of my well being and continued physical, emotional and mental maintenance.

I asked Poe, my virtual assistant on what can of prompts should I have when assessing my mood type. Here's what it gave me;
